Water sports

Cyprus is an island surrounded by crystal clear waters that reliably rank as the spotless in Europe – and are further improved by their enjoyable all-year-round temperatures of approximately 16°-24° C – it is only expected that water sports would feature as a popular activity, and one that offers plenty of choices.

The range of water sports offered in Cyprus starts from moderate activities in shallower waters, to quests that offer an exciting thrill for even the most courageous of athletes… and everything in between! A large number of licensed water sports operators can be found directly on public, organized beaches, and on the coastline of hotel strips, where a selection of both enjoyable or exciting sea activities can be engaged on the spot, e.g.: water skiing, banana boats, tube rides, wakeboarding, bodyboarding, SUP, parasailing, jet skiing, flyboarding, canoeing, windsurfing and kayaking. The relevant supervision and/or safety equipment is provided by the water sport operators, who also offer arrangements for water sports courses.

For jet skis and speed boats rentals, please note that the minimum user age is 18 years, and a safety / operation briefing prior to their use is provided by the water sports operators.

Seasoned water sports fans will find various club facilities and communities for their particular skill or passion in all the coastal towns. All licensed water sports centers and services provided in Cyprus are included on Safe Watersports which is a non-profit organization which cooperates with Cyprus Port and Marine Police, targeting to raise awareness to the general public on safety matters related to water sports and the prevention of accidents.
